Fort St. James Police Investigate Shots Fired

RCMP in Fort St. James are continuing to investigate a scary incident that took place in Tl’azt’en Nation over the weekend.

Just before 1 AM Saturday morning, Police received calls about shots fired in the area. The first officer to respond to the calls came across a pick-up truck with smashed side windows and bullet holes in the windshield.

As he inspected the truck he heard another gun shot and saw a group of people walking towards him.

Backup was called in from Fort St. James and Vanderhoof, as well as the Emergency Response Team. Once the additional officers arrived, three men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Police also discovered a 30-30 lever action rifle which witnesses say was fired at a pedestrian and struck a residence near the Tl’azt’en Main.

Three men from the Tl’azt’en Nation have now been charged with several firearms related offences. RCMP have not yet released the names of the accused.
