RCMP seek public help in unsolved cases

Prince George Police are asking for public assistance in two unsolved summer incidents.

In early July, 15 year-old William Quail went underwater and failed to resurface when swimming with a friend in the Fraser River.

The teens were in the river at the south end of Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park near the Hudson’s Bay Wetland Park.

The search was suspended on July 6 after ground, water, and air searches have all turned up negative, but RCMP think people who saw the boys swimming could have information that would help determine what happened.

In late August, the body of 35-year-old Ian Begg was found on Haldi Lake Road, and was determined to be a homicide.

Though cause of death was never released, Begg did have a short criminal record, and a warrant out for missing a court date.

“We are confident that someone out there has information that will further this investigation,” says Sgt. Todd Wilson of the Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit. “We want to see the person or persons responsible brought to justice so that Ian’s family can begin to heal.”

Anyone with knowledge of either of these events is asked to contact RCMP (250-561-3300) or Crimestoppers (1-800-222-8477).
