British Columbians are doing their part to help people fleeing violence in Syria.
BC Liquor Stores has wrapped up their month-long donation campaign, raising $70,000 province-wide in support of Red Cross efforts.
“The donations that customers gave in BC Liquor Stores continue to help the Red Cross provide things like food, water, beds and life saving health services to the people in and around Syria” said April Kemick with the BC Liquor Distribution Branch.
BC Liquor Stores have a longstanding relationship with the Red Cross.
“Since 2003, BC Liquor Stores have been working with customers and employees to raise money for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund both here in Canada and abroad” said Kemick.
In that time British Columbians have contributed more than 2 million dollars to the cause through liquor store donations.
The Federal Government previously pledged to match every dollar donated by individual Canadians in support of the Red Cross in Syria.
