Cariboo ties Giants

The Cariboo Cougars could only muster one point against the Vancouver North West Giants tonight (Sat) earning a 2-2 tie.

Josh Latta put the visitors ahead 1-0 just 1:35 into the game past a sprawling Dorrin Luding.

Cariboo responded on the power play off the stick of Chase Dubois to tie it at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Vancouver Northwest scored the only goal in the second on a five minute power play when Jason Village tipped a Will Warm point shot to make it 2-1 at the end of the middle frame.

Cariboo was given 9 minutes in penalties in the middle frame which included a major penalty to affiliate player Bryce Anderson after hitting Giants defender Clint Colbourne from behind.

Anderson also received a 1 game suspension and will not play tomorrow (Sun).

After a string of penalties in the third, Cariboo would earn the tie with under 20 seconds remaining courtesy of Colton Thomas.

The Cougars outshot VNW 37-18 overall.

Giants goaltender Beck Warm was the star of the game making 35 stops while Dorrin Luding made 16 saves on 18 shots.

Both goalies will get the nod tomorrow when they play game 2 of their double header at 9:15am from Kin 1.

VNW remains two points up on Cariboo for first overall in the BCMML.
