Spruce Kings end losing skid

The losing streak for the Prince George Spruce Kings stopped at 5 after a 4-2 win over the Surrey Eagles tonight (Sun).

Prince George jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period courtesy of goals from 20 year olds Jake LeBrun and Bryan Basilico.

The Spruce Kings outshot Surrey 20-6 in the opening frame.

Surrey would storm right back in the second with two goals of their own, both on the power play from Ty Westgard and Kurt Black.

Jordan Funk would put the Spruce Kings back on top before the end of the period to make it 3-2.

In the third, Parker Colley iced the victory with 20 seconds left into an empty net.

Affiliate player Ethan de Jong had an assist in the win.

Liam McCloskey made 20 saves for the Spruce Kings who improve to 6-16-0-2 on the season and are seven points back of the Coquitlam Express for the final playoff spot in the Mainland Division.

The Express have two games in hand.

Prince George begins a three game home-stand on Wednesday against the West Kelowna Warriors from the Coliseum at 7pm.
