Cougars streak ends as they falter in 3rd

The Portland Winterhawks erased a 4-2 deficit with 12 1/2 minutes left in the third to nip the Prince George Cougars 5-4.

Rihards Bukarts notched the winner with 48 seconds remaining, his 2nd goal of the period.

The loss ended the Cougars six game win streak and nine game point streak.

It was their first loss in regulation since November 18th.

Chase Witala scored the first two goals of the game to give the 20-year-old Cats winger eight in his last three games.

The 18-10-1-1 Cougars and 15-14 Winterhawks meet again tonight (Saturday) in Portland.
