Cougars get split in Portland

Brad Morrison snapped a 2-2 tie on the power play with 6:07 left in the third to give the Prince George Cougars a 3-2 victory over the Portland Winterhawks.

The Winterhawks took the Friday game 5-4.

Colby McAuley and Bartek Bison also tallied for the Cougars who won for the 7th time in their last 8 games.

Nick McBride made 25 saves as P.G. outshot Portland 42-27.

The 19-10-1-1 Cougars, who are two points behind second place Victoria in the B.C. Division, conclude a three game road trip Tuesday in Seattle.

The Cats host Victoria Friday and Saturday.

The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars crushed the North Island Silvertips 8-2 in the first of a doubleheader at Kin 1.
