Cougars trounce the ThunderBirds

For the first time this season the Prince George Cougars have a winning record on the road.

The Cougars scored twice in each period to slaughter the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-2 improving their road record to 8-7-1 & overall record to 20-10-1-1.

The Cats have won 6 of their last 7 away games.

Jesse Gabrielle tallied twice and added an assist to move into 20th in WHL scoring with 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 32 games.

First star Jansen Harkins had three assists while Tate Olson set up a pair and was plus 4.

Olson is plus 14 on the season just behind captain Sam Ruopp who is plus 15.

Ty Edmonds made 26 saves as P.G. outshot Seattle 33-28.

Edmonds leads the WHL in save percentage with a .932 mark and is second in GAA at 2.17.

The Cougars, who have won 8 of their last 9, are tied with the Victoria Royals for 2nd place in the BC Division and the Western Conference.

The Royals are also 20-10-1-1.

Victoria plays tonight in Vancouver and Friday and Saturday in Prince George with the Saturday contest at CN Centre the Teddy Bear toss game.

B.C. Division:
Kelowna 24-7-1 = 49 points (1st overall in WHL)
Victoria 20-10-1-1 = 42 points
P.G. 20-10-1-1 = 42 points
Kamloops 15-10-3-1 = 34 points
Vancouver 10-19-2-2 = 24 points
