School District 57 has named an interim Superintendent .
Board Chair Tony Cable says 30 year District veteran Sharon Cairns is coming out of retirement to help them out. “Sharon has a lot of experience, she’s been a teacher, Vice Principal, Principal and Assistant Superintendent in our District so she will be a good person to see us over the next few months.”
Cable says the fact that Cairns is coming out of retirement and has no vested interest in the permanent position has some benefits as well.
He adds that they will be beginning the search for Brian Pepper’s permanent replacement in 2016.
“We will look right across Canada, but realistically it will probably be within BC or even our District. But we are going to cast as wide of a net as we can.”
Cable say the hiring process for the position is still being determined.
