SD57 Reflects on 2015

School Board Trustees are looking back on the year that was.

While funding for ageing buildings continues to be an issue, 2015 saw the development of a new committee on rural education, the creation of a new aboriginal sports program, and new dual credit programs.

“Schools in Northern BC are very different from schools in other parts of the province.” said Vice-Chair Tim Bennet. “We need to continue to work with government to find ways ensure that we are able to keep our buildings in the best possible condition.”

The district also requested funds to replace Kelly Road Secondary, and remove modulars from DP Todd.

“We’ll be debuting the Strategic Plan, we will be continuing the work of the rural education committee and the technology committee” said Bennet. “We’ll just continue on the projects that have been put forward by our staff. There’s a lot of work underway and that work will continue in 2016.”

SD57 will hold two budget meetings in April.
