2015 marks record-breaking year for Tourism PG

Tourism PG is looking ahead to more success after a record-breaking 2015.

Chief Executive Officer Erica Hummel says one thing in particular stood out…

“For sure the Canada Games were a big highlight for us. We worked with Northern BC Tourism and we put together an activation at the plaza, and we had over 20,000 visitors through. There’s a lot of legacy pieces that came away with that as well.”

The following summer also saw record-breaking numbers of visitors.

“It started earlier than usual, and a lot of the visitors were American- I think we can attribute that to the low Canadian dollar, we saw a lot more people travelling up to Alaska and the Yukon, and more Europeans as well.”

Tourism PG also asks visitors about their impression of Prince George itself.

“They’re always really blown away by the hospitality of the northern residents, and how friendly everybody is. Once they come here, the perceptions of the community are really enhanced.”

Tourism PG will be partnering with the city to make a new grant for upcoming events, and is in the process of launching a new website.
