27 organizations in Prince George received cheques from the City’s myPG Social Development Fund today.
The fund, an amalgamation of the former Social, Cultural, and Community Enhancement Grants, provided over 329 thousand dollars to local community groups.
One of the groups was the Farmer’s Market, and Director Dave Abernethy says they received 12 hundred dollars for a recent project.
“We decided to have a small patio out in front of our building. So it comprises of a log fence, an archway, a large planter, two picnic tables, and a small stage for musicians to perform. They generally perform every Saturday.”
Abernethy says the funding was a big help as it became a rather large project.
The Farmer’s Market has about 25 indoor vendors, and 6 to 8 outdoor vendors every Saturday.
