An open fire ban will be in effect throughout the Prince George Fire Centre starting tomorrow at noon.
Fire Information Officer Jill Kelsh says the ban will be in effect until the end of September.
“We have all open fires banned within the Prince George Fire Centre, excluding the Fort Nelson Fire Zone. This includes all Category 2 and 3 open fire, which means basically anything that’s bigger than a campfire. Campfires are still allowed.”
Kelsh says going into the hot and dry weekend, campers must be very vigilant about their fire use and make sure fires are out before they leave the area.
She says there is a high to extreme fire danger rating throughout the fire centre.
