It’s been a hard luck road trip so far for the Prince George Spruce Kings.
After falling 5-4 on Friday to the Trail Smoke Eaters, the Spruce Kings were edged 3-2 on Saturday against the Penticton Vees.
Prince George got off to a strong start potting the game’s opening marker at 1:08 when Kyle Johnson slipped one past goalie Matthew Robson for a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The Vees woke up in the second with a pair of their own thanks to Chris Klack’s 5th of the season followed by former Brandon Wheat King Duncan Campbell’s 3rd giving the hosts a 2-1 advantage.
Klack added another at 17:50 of the third period to put the game out of reach at 3-1.
Connor Russell would make the score a little closer making it 3-2 with 7 seconds left in the contest.
Stefan Wornig made 20 saves in the loss.
Prince George completes their three game road trip Sunday in West Kelowna.
