Rally calls for an end to violence in Gaza

Rallies took place across the globe, Friday calling for an end to the violence in Gaza.
Here in Prince George, around 30 people demonstrated outside of City Hall.
Hiraa Rashid, organizer for the local rally says the message she’s sending to the government is that they do not approve of tax dollars supporting the Israeli army.
“Because their main agenda right now is to occupy Palestinian land, which is not fair,” she says. “In a way, we can relate this to what’s happened to Aboriginal people here in Canada, where we’ve occupied their land.”
After the rally, the demonstration turned into a march to Cariboo – Prince George Conservative MP Dick Harris’ office.
Rashid says residents can help raise the profile of the conflict in the eyes of MPs by writing and calling both Harris and PG – Peace River MP Bob Zimmer.
“Let them know that this is wrong,” she says. “We need to be promoting peace for both sides and not just saying that we’re promoting Israel only. Both sides are at fault, both sides are being harmed. There just needs to be peace.”
