A Prince George councillor will be pushing the federal government for change that benefits local finances.
Garth Frizzell has been named Chair to the Standing Committee on Municipal Finance within the Canadian Federation of Municipalities.
He says he has to be ready to present issues that are important to municipalities to the federal government ahead of next year’s election.
Frizzell says, “We have to be ready at any time to put forward the issues that are really important to municipalities and hear how different political parties are going to respond, what they’re going to promise, and how they’re going to address the critical problems in the taxation system in Canada.”
A Burnaby and Toronto Councillor also sit as vice chairs on the committee.
