FN Protest against industry exploiting poverty in Yekooche

A protest was held in downtown Prince George Wednesday against major development in a small community.
Residents of the Yekooche First Nation community 75km north west of Fort Saint James picketed outside of their finance office in the city, saying industry deals ranging from logging to LNG to Enbridge is happening in their territory without their consent.
Derek Joseph says none of the 200 people in the community are seeing any benefit.
“They’re taking money that belongs to the people,” he says. “When there are jobs, they hire peopel from here, while our people live in proverty.”
The demonstrators say other First Nations are upset with the Yekooche nation over territory disputes.
