The Prince George Cougars lost their final exhibition game, 4-3 in overtime to the hometown Kamloops Blazers. The Cougars concluded the pre-season with a 3-0-2 record. They open their WHL regular season on Saturday, Sept 20th in Portland with the Cats home opener Sept 26th vs. Kelowna.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings also lost an exhibition game on the road 4-3 in overtime, as they fell to the Vipers in Vernon. The same two teams meet again tonight (Saturday) at the P.G. Coliseum in their final pre-season action. The Spruce Kings start the regular season against Nanaimo September 20th in Chilliwack with their home opener October 3rd against Chilliwack.

–The Spruce Kings have named 20-year-old forward Chad Staley and 20-year-old defenceman Karan Toor as Co-Captains. To start the season, Staley will wear the “C” at home and Toor will wear the “C” on the road. 20-year-old forward Justin Rai has been named as an assistant captain.

–The UNBC Timberwolves are on the road this weekend in Canada West soccer. UNBC will play today (Saturday) and Sunday afternoon in Vancouver against the UBC Thunderbirds. The Lady T-wolves are 0-0-2 while the UNBC men are 1-1.

–Playoff champions have been determined in Prince George Women’s Soccer.
In Division 1, Kodiak Chrome defeated Mountain Air Kettle Corn 5-1 in the final.
In Division 2, Scotties Hotties doubled Caribou Brewmasters 4-2.
In Division 3, Tillmanns beat Westcana Electric 2-0.
In Division 4, QML Consulating whipped Can U Dig 6-0.
