PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars have just two players still away at NHL camps; Dennis Cholowski with Detroit and Radovan Bondra with Chicago.

Defenceman Josh Anderson returned to the Cats from the Colorado Avalanche, and sniper Nikita Popugaev has re-joined the team from the New Jersey Devils; both will play in the Cougars home opener Friday against Spokane.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

All BCHL teams play two games this week at the League Showcase in Chilliwack.

The 3-0-0-1 Prince George Spruce Kings face off against the Merritt Centennials Friday at 10AM and the Victoria Grizzlies Saturday afternoon at 4PM.

 

NHL EXHIBITION:

The Vancouver Canucks split squads are on the road.

The Canucks visit Calgary tonight, Edmonton Friday, and also face Los Angeles Thursday and Saturday in China.

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

There’s Canada West soccer in Prince George this weekend.

The UNBC Lady Timberwolves host Trinity Western Friday at 6PM and Fraser Valley Sunday at Noon.

The UNBC men’s soccer team will play in Alberta, Saturday at MacEwan, and Sunday at Lethbridge.

 

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL (from Tuesday):

Toronto Blue Jays are back in the win column with a 5-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night.

This is the start of a six-game home-stand for the 71-80 Jays, who have just 11 games left.

NFL:

After two weeks of the NFL season, scoring is down from the previous year.

Teams are averaging 2.1 touchdowns and 20.1 points per game in 2017, compared to 2.6 TD’s and 22.8 points per game at the same point in 2016.

 

CFL:

The 6-6 BC Lions host the 2-9 Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday night at 8PM before the Lions head into their second bye week.

BC is tied with Saskatchewan for last in the West, but the Roughriders have a game in hand.
