Vanderhoof Christmas Village finds room at Reid Hotel

It may be early to think about winter, but Vanderhoof’s annual Christmas Village has taken on a new venue.

The Reid Hotel will host the 2017 walk-through event, filled with both traditional and secular seasonal decor.

Organizer Barb Penner explains why the historic Burrard Avenue facility was chosen.

“We’re doing it in conjunction with the 101st anniversary of the Reid Hotel. It’s a nice warm environment and the rooms are done in cherrywood, so it’s going to be very different look, old-fashioned, and stunning.”

Entrance is by donation, and Penner adds the proceeds from ticket sales will be split 50/50 with the St. John Hospital Auxiliary Society.

“This year, the money is going towards the hotel for supplying the venue, and the Hospital Auxiliary provides the manpower to volunteer and take people on the tours.”

She says this event has brought in people by the thousand, locally and across the region.

The Village will officially be open between December 1st and January 1st, 2018.

A ticketed kick-off tour is scheduled for November 25th for the Reid Hotel’s 101st birthday celebration.
