A Spruce King has chosen the next step of his hockey career.
Prince George forward Ethan de Jong has committed to the Quinnipiac University Bobcats in Connecticut starting in the 2019-20 season.
In a statement, General Manager Mike Hawes says he’s excited for the 18-year-old in signing with a NCAA Division One program.
“He’s a tremendous young man who is focused, knows what his goals are, and strives hard to reach them. His ability on the ice combined with his work ethic and commitment has resulted in this opportunity for him with a fabulous hockey school.”
The North Vancouver product has eight points (3G, 5A) in six games with the Spruce Kings in the season.
Quinnipiac competes in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Very excited to announce my commitment to play college hockey at @QU_MIH! Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. #GoBobcats
