PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars begin a five-game home-stand with a doubleheader against the Kelowna Rockets tonight and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Cougars reduced their roster to 26 by sending 18-year-old defenceman Peter Kope to the Camrose Kodiaks of the AJHL.

The Cats are carrying three goalies, eight defencemen, and 15 forwards.

 

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

The WHL is reducing its regular season schedule by four games starting in the 2018-19 season.

Each team will play 68 games instead of 72, which has been the benchmark for the past 42 years.

OHL and QMJHL teams currently play 68 games.

BC DIVISION STANDINGS:

Victoria = 5-0 (10 points)
Kelowna = 2-1-0-1 (5 points)
Prince George = 2-3 (4 points)
Vancouver = 1-2 (2 points)
Kamloops = 0-6 (0 points)

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The Prince George Spruce Kings welcome the Surrey Eagles to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA)
tonight and Friday.

The Spruce Kings are 2-1 this season against the Eagles, with both victories in Prince George.

20-year-old defenceman Nick Sutter has been traded by the Spruce Kings to the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL in return for future considerations.

Sutter was in his first season with Prince George after spending the previous two years in the AJHL with the Olds Grizzlies and Drayton Valley Thunder.

MAINLAND DIVISION STANDINGS:

Prince George = 5-3-0-1 (11 points)
Langley = 3-1-4 (10 points)
Surrey = 2-5-1-1 (6 points)
Chilliwack = 1-5-1-1 (4 points)

CARIBOO COUGARS:

The 1-2-1 Cariboo Cougars host the 4-0 Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday at 4PM and Sunday at 10AM at Kin 1.

Greater Vancouver is one of three BCMML teams tied for first place with eight points.

CFL:

Two teams with opposite records meet tonight in the CFL to begin week 16.

The 10-3 Winnipeg Blue Bombers are home against the 3-10 Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The 6-7 BC Lions host the 5-8-1 Ottawa RedBlacks Saturday.

With five games remaining, the last place Lions are two points behind Saskatchewan and Edmonton.

The Riders play Saturday in Toronto, while the Eskimos tackle the Alouettes Monday in Montreal.
