PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars conclude a five-game homestand with a doubleheader against the Kamloops Blazers tonight and Saturday.

The 3-3-2 Cougars have a five-game point streak, scoring 25 goals during that stretch while allowing 14.

The 0-9 Blazers have been outscored 45-20 this season; Prince George won the previous meeting, 6-2 in Kamloops.

BC DIVISION STANDINGS:

Victoria, 8 games = 7-0-1 (15 points)
Kelowna, 6 games = 4-1-0-1 (9 points)
Prince George, 8 games = 3-3-2 (8 points)
Vancouver, 6 games = 2-3-0-1 (5 points)

20-year-old defenceman Shane Collins has joined the OHL’s London Knights and was in their lineup Thursday in a 3-1 loss to the Windsor Spitfires.

Collins was placed on waivers by the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The 7-3-1-1 Prince George Spruce Kings begin a string of eight straight road games when they visit the 3-7-1-1 Surrey Eagles tonight and the 4-2-5 Langley Rivermen Saturday.

The Spruce Kings lead the Mainland Division by three points over the Rivermen.

MAINLAND DIVISION STANDINGS:

Prince George, 12 games = 7-3-1-1 (16 points)
Langley, 11 games = 4-2-5 (13 points)
Chilliwack, 11 games = 4-5-1-1 (10 points)
Surrey, 12 games = 3-7-1-1 (8 points)
Coquitlam, 12 games = 2-8-1-1 (6 points)

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

The 3-2-1 Cariboo Cougars host the 2-3-1 North Island Silvertips Saturday at 4PM and Sunday at 10AM at Kin 1.

Cariboo is in fifth place and North Island sixth in the 11-team BCMML.

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

The 4-5-5 UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team will host the 4-6-2 Fraser Valley Cascades tonight and Saturday at 5PM in their final regular season games.

The UNBC men are in fifth place in the Canada West Pacific Division where the top four teams advance to the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the 2-7-1 UNBC women play soccer games on the road.

The Lady Timberwolves visit 3-4-3 Manitoba this evening and 1-7-2 Winnipeg Saturday.

 

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

(Fifth & deciding game in the best-of-five NLDS)

The Cubs win 3-2 and will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS starting Saturday.

The American League Championship Series will open tonight in Houston as the Astros host the New York Yankees.

Eagles have the best record in the NFC at 5-1 while the Panthers slip to 4-2.

A federal appeals court has restored a six game suspension to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

The case may not be over as further appeals are possible.

The Cowboys have the bye this weekend.

 

CFL:

There’s a pair of Friday night games in the CFL.

The Calgary Stampeders are on the road in Hamilton followed by Ottawa at Saskatchewan.

The 6-8 B.C. Lions, sitting four points out of a playoff spot with four games left, battle the Blue Bombers Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg.
