Tomas Soustal scored on a third period penalty shot and added the only goal in the shootout.

Isaiah DiLaura made 23 saves in his first WHL start for Prince George.

The Cougars continue their Alberta trip tonight (Saturday) in Red Deer and Sunday afternoon in Calgary.

Evan DeBrouwer made 39 saves for the Spruce Kings, who were outshot 42-21.

Powell River scored all three of its goals on the power-play.

The Spruce Kings visit Alberni Valley tonight and Nanaimo Sunday afternoon on their Island swing.

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

The 3-7-2 UNBC Timberwolves can advance to the Canada West women’s soccer playoffs if they win this afternoon against 3-8-1 TRU in Kamloops.

UNBC is a point ahead of TRU for the sixth and final post-season berth with two games left for both teams.

The Lady Timberwolves conclude their regular season Sunday afternoon in Kelowna against 1-9-2 UBC Okanagan.

(Canada West Men’s Soccer)

The UNBC men’s soccer team will find out tonight if they advance to the playoffs.

The Timberwolves, who finished 5-5-6 in their regular season, will qualify for the post-season if UBCO (5-6-3) doesn’t win against TRU (6-3-5) this afternoon in Kamloops and if Victoria loses tonight at (7-4-4) Trinity Western.

On Friday, Victoria (6-7-1) beat Fraser Valley 3-0 to move into the 4th and final playoff spot.

 

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

Series tied 3-3 with the seventh and deciding game tonight in Houston.

The 9-7 Riders clinch a playoff spot.

The loss ended the Stampeders 11-game winning streak.

The 6-9 BC Lions, who have been eliminated from playoff contention, host 9-6 Edmonton tonight.

This afternoon in Toronto, the Argos host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

 

NFL:

Week 7 of the NFL season continues Sunday. Among the match-ups: Seattle at New York Giants in the afternoon and Atlanta at New England at night.
