Justin Rai scored his 7th goal of the season and added an assist to lead the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 3-1 triumph over the Surrey Eagles. Rai has taken over the BCHL scoring lead with 10 points in five games. Jesse Jenks had 35 saves for P.G. who outshot Surrey 44-36.

–The Spruce Kings went 2-1 on the weekend as they split a pair with the Coquitlam Express. Prince George beat Coquitlam 5-3 (Friday) before the Express came back with a 3-2 victory (Saturday) as the winning goal came with just 20 seconds left in the 3rd. The 4-1 Spruce Kings start a four game home stand Friday against the 4-0 Chilliwack Chiefs in their home opener.

–The Kelowna Rockets dominated the special teams as they crushed the Prince George Cougars twice at CN Centre: 7-2 (Friday) and 8-2 (Saturday). The Rockets scored seven of their 15 goals on the power play and added two more shorthanded. Kelowna tallied five straight goals in a 7:25 span in the opener before 5,659 fans and poured it on again in the second game with a five goal outburst in the opening period in front of a crowd of 2,581. The 1-3 Cougars conclude a 3-game home stand Tuesday against the 2-2 Swift Current Broncos.

–The Cariboo Cougars posted a 3-2 win (Saturday) followed by a 3-3 tie (Sunday) against the Vancouver North East Chiefs. Austin Gray scored twice in the draw. The Cariboo Cats remain unbeaten with a 3-0-1 record with their next games at home against the Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Kin 1.

–The University of Victoria Vikes swept a doubleheader against the UNBC Timberwolves in both men’s and women’s action in Canada West soccer. Victoria beat the UNBC men 1-0 (Saturday) and 2-1 (Sunday) while the Vikes whipped the Lady Timberwolves 5-0 (Saturday) and 6-1 (Sunday). After eight games, UNBC is 1-7 in the men’s standings and 0-6-2 in the women’s division.
