It was a weekend of celebration for the UNBC Timberwolves as the men’s and women’s soccer teams clinched playoff spots less than 24 hours apart.
On Saturday, the T-Wolves (5-5-6) clinched a berth after Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan battled to a 1-1 draw while the Trinity Western Spartans disposed of the Victoria Vikes 4-2.
It is the first playoff spot ever secured for UNBC since coming over to the Canada West.
The men will travel to Edmonton next Saturday at 1 PM against the defending national champion Alberta Golden Bears.
The UNBC women followed suit after a 0-0 tie against UBC Okanagan on Sunday.
The Timberwolves also scraped out another point against Thompson Rivers following a 2-2 decision in Kamloops on Saturday.
Tianna Pius notched both goals against the Wolfpack.
UNBC now heads to Victoria where they will participate in a Play-in game against the Calgary Dinos on Friday at 2 PM.
The Timberwolves finished the season with a record of 3-7-4.
