Prince George Cougars 16-year-old defenceman Josh Anderson has been selected to play for Canada (Team White) at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The tournament runs November 2nd to 8th in Sarnia & Lambton, Ontario.

The P.G. Cougars have a stretch of five games in eight days starting this weekend when they visit Spokane Saturday and Vancouver Sunday. The Cougars return home to face Lethbridge Wednesday and Vancouver Oct 10th and 11th.

The Prince George Cougars roster is down to 25 after 18-year-old defenceman Dominic Thom decided to leave the team. The Cats are left with two goalies, nine defencemen and 14 forwards.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings have a new Director of Analytics. He is Quinn Mulligan, a Port Alberni native who is currently completing his research-based graduate thesis at UBC in in aeronautics. Mulligan has developed a web based software program that he will use to perform his research and analysis while reviewing Spruce Kings games.

–The 4-1 P.G. Spruce Kings host the 4-0 Chilliwack Chiefs Friday in their home opener. The same teams also play Saturday at the Prince George Coliseum.

–The 3-0-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars host the 3-1 Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday at 4:45 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Kin 1.

–Hayley Wickenheiser, who has the most gold medals of any Canadian Olympian (4), will deliver a speech next year in Prince George. Wickenheiser has agreed to give the keynote address at the UNBC Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast fundraiser on March 20th, at the Northern Sport Centre. The
breakfast is a major fundraiser of athletic scholarships for the 80 student-athletes competing on behalf of UNBC in
CIS soccer and basketball. Registration and event information can be found online at unbc.ca/timberwolves.

–The UNBC Timberwolves are home against the Trinity Western University Spartans in Canada West Soccer Saturday and Sunday at noon and 2:15 at the Rotary fields. UNBC is 1-7 in the men’s standings and 0-6-2 in the women’s division.

–The UNBC basketball teams play pre-season games this week in Edmonton. The UNBC men take on Red Deer College tonight
(Thursday), NAIT on Friday and Mount Royal on Saturday. The Lady Timberwolves face MacEwan University this evening, the University of Alberta Friday and Red Deer College on Saturday. The Timberwolves open their basketball regular season at home Nov 7th & 8th against TRU.
