PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars host the struggling Edmonton Oil Kings tonight and Saturday at CN Centre.

The 7-9-2-2 Cougars are four points ahead of the last-place Kamloops Blazers, and four points behind the third-place Vancouver Giants in the BC Division.

The 5-13-2 Oil Kings have lost seven straight and are last in the WHL overall standings.

Edmonton won the previous meeting between the two teams, 5-4 in a shootout on October 20th.

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

BC DIVISION STANDINGS:

Victoria, 22 games = 14-7-1 (29 points)
Kelowna, 20 games = 11-6-2-1 (25 points)
Vancouver, 21 games = 9-8-2-2 (22 points)
Prince George, 20 games = 7-9-2-2 (18 points)
Kamloops, 20 games = 7-13 (14 points)

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The 11-9-2-3 PG Spruce Kings play their next eight games at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA), with two of them this weekend.

The Spruce Kings entertain the 12-9-1-1 Nanaimo Clippers tonight and the 14-9-1 West Kelowna Warriors Saturday.

 

BCHL:

MAINLAND DIVISION STANDINGS:

Langley, 25 games = 12-4-9 (33 points)
Chilliwack, 25 games = 12-9-2-2 (28 points)
Surrey, 25 games = 12-10-2-1 (27 points)
Prince George, 25 games = 11-9-2-3 (27 points)
Coquitlam, 22 games = 3-17-1-1 (8 points)

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

The 12-3-1 Cariboo Cougars play the 9-5 Vancouver NW Giants  Saturday at 7:30PM and Sunday at 10AM at Kin 1.

The Major Midget Cougars are tied with the 12-2-1 Valley West Hawks for first place although the Hawks have a game in hand.

The 9-5 Giants are 4th in the 11-team BCMML.

Capitals forward Brett Connolly of Prince George scored his 2nd goal of the season in Washington’s 6-2 loss in Colorado.

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

The UNBC Timberwolves host the Regina Cougars in Canada West basketball tonight at 6 and 8 and Saturday at 5 and 7PM.

Both the UNBC women and men are 2-4.

The Regina women are 4-0 and the Regina men sit 3-1.

 

NBA:

Boston Celtics                         92             Golden State Warriors           88

14th straight win for the 14-2 Celtics.

The loss ended a seven game win streak for the 11-4 Warriors.

The 9-5 Toronto Raptors host the 8-6 New York Knicks tonight.

NFL:

Pittsburgh Steelers                 40            Tennessee Titans                    17

The Steelers are 8-2, best record in the AFC while the Titans slip to 6-4.

 

CFL:

The Grey Cup participants will be determined on Sunday.

The East Final (10AM) has Saskatchewan at Toronto with the West Final (1:30PM) of Edmonton at Calgary to follow.

 

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL:

The Duchess Park Condors remain second behind Langley Christian in the BC Boys AA Volleyball rankings this week ahead of the Zone Finals.

College Heights stays eighth and DP Todd slips from 11th to 12th.

 

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:

Second baseman Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton are the MVPs in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Altuve won the batting title with a 0.346 average.

Stanton belted 59 homers and drove in 132 runs.
