Canadian blood supplies 'critically low'

Canadian Blood Services has declared that supply levels have reached a critical level.

Citing a high number of appointments getting cancelled with short notice over the past year, Dave Patterson with Canadian Blood Services says supply is the lowest since 2008.

“Normally we would like to have a five to eight day national inventory or demand. And currently we are at three days. So that leaves us in a very tight spot should something happen nationally, our demand go up or an unforeseen event happen”

In the interior drive for life inter-city competition, Prince George is still trailing Kelowna.

In addition to calling in or booking online, there’s a new and easy way to find yourself an appointment to give blood; check out the ‘Give Blood’ app in both the Apple and Google app stores.
