PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The Prince George Cougars visit the Kamloops Blazers tonight to start a two game road trip.

The last-place Blazers are only two points back of Prince George after a 6-3 Kamloops Friday night victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The 9-11-2-2 Cougars also play in Kelowna Wednesday before hosting Vancouver on Friday.

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The win, before 1,019 hometown fans, moves the 13-10-2-3 Spruce Kings into a second place tie with Surrey in the Mainland Division, a point ahead of Chilliwack.

Same teams face off again tonight at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA).

Spruce Kings defenceman Layton Ahac has committed to the Ohio State University Buckeyes hockey program.

The Buckeyes play in the Big 10 Conference of the NCAA and are located in Columbus, Ohio.

The 16-year-old has 18 points (five goals) in 28 games with Prince George.

The Spruce Kings currently have seven NCAA commitments (Blake Hayward – Union, Kyle Johnson-Yale, Dustin Manz – Nipissing, Patrick Cozzi – Colorado College, Ethan de Jong – Quinnipiac, Layton Ahac – Ohio State, and Liam Watson-Brawn – Colgate)

MAINLAND DIVISION STANDINGS:

Langley, 28 games = 14-5-9 (37 points)
Surrey, 28 games = 14-11-2-1 (31 points)
Prince George, 28 games = 13-10-2-3 (31 points)

MIDGET HOCKEY:

Five teams are competing in the Prince George Coast Inn Cougars Midget Tier 1 hockey tournament at the Kin and CN Centres.

The top two teams from the round robin play in the 1PM Sunday final at Kin 2.

The 14-3-1 Cariboo Cougars are idle this weekend and will resume play on December 2nd and 3rd with home games against the Okanagan Rockets at Kin 1.

SPEED SKATING:

The Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club hosts the Central Interior Challenge and BC Winter Games Zone Eight trials today at Kin 1.

Nearly 100 skaters are entered.

The 2018 BC Winter Games will be held February 22nd to 25th in Kamloops.

 

CFL:

It’s Grey Cup weekend in Ottawa.

The Calgary Stampeders are 7-point favorites to beat the Toronto Argonauts.

Game time is Sunday afternoon at 3:30 Pacific.

 

NFL:

There are a dozen NFL games Sunday highlighted by 8-2 New Orleans at 7-3 Los Angeles Rams.
