The Cougars ended a five-game losing streak to the delight of 2,943 fans at the CN Centre.

Brogan O’Brien scored the winner on the penalty shot, with his team shorthanded, midway thru the second.

Jared Bethune notched a goal and two assists for the 10-14-2-2 Cougars, who host Kootenay Tuesday.

The 15-3-1 Major Midget Cougars raised $4,304 on their Eighth Annual Jameson Jones Night in support of the BC Children’s Hospital.

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL:

The Duchess Park Condors earned the bronze medal at the Provincial Boys AA Volleyball Championship in Langley.

In an all Prince George match-up, Duchess Park whipped the College Heights Cougars 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 in the third place game.

College Heights ended up fourth out of 16.

College Heights finished 11th and host Nechako Valley 14th at the BC Girls AA Volleyball Championship in Vanderhoof.

Langley Christian won both the boys and girls AA provincial volleyball titles.

Kelly Road placed 10th out of 16 at the BC girls AAA volleyball championship at Crofton House in Vancouver.
