Lady T-Wolves salvage one win on UNBC’s weekend in Kamloops

The UNBC men’s and women’s basketball teams are leaving the North Thompson region with equal records of 4-8 in Canada West action.

Of the four games played this weekend against Thompson Rivers University (TRU), the lady T-Wolves grabbed the only win coming on Friday night by a score of 86-61.

The women lost Saturday’s contest with the Wolfpack 91-80.

Fourth-year forward Vasiliki Louka collected a team-high 54 points and 29 rebounds over the two games, while Prince George product Madison Landry also put up an impressive weekend performance of 37 points.

UNBC sits tied for 11th in the Canada West standings with UNBC and UFV.

On the men’s side, they were swept both nights by TRU by a close score of 86-80 on Friday, and 93-72 on Saturday.

Toronto native Jovan Leamy was the offensive leader for UNBC, shooting a combined 45 points and picking up 16 rebounds.

The fourth-year guard also went 17 for 21 at the free throw line (81%).

The men’s squad are also tied for 11th with the UFV Cascades in the conference standings.

UNBC will now take their Christmas break and will return home to the Northern Sport Centre January 5th and 6th, when they’ll square off against the UBC Okanagan Heat.

Tip-off is slated for 6PM and 8PM on the Friday, and 5PM and 7PM on the Saturday.
