Prince George Cougars defenceman Dennis Cholowski has been named to Team Canada’s selection camp roster ahead of the 2018 World Junior championships.
The 19-year-old Captain is among 13 WHL players named to the camp in St. Catharine’s, Ontario.
The World Juniors take place December 26th to January 5th.

Cougars 16-year-old rookie goalie Taylor Gauthier blocked 40 shots, including all 17 he faced in the third period before 2,356 fans at the CN Centre.
Josh Maser scored the only two goals of the third period, with the winner at the 8:42 mark, and an empty netter with 23 seconds left.
Import Rookie Pavel Azhgirei opened the scoring for the Cougars early in the opening period, his first WHL goal.
The 11-14-2-2 Cougars host 18-10-3 Victoria Sunday at 2 and Tuesday at 7.

Prince George Cougars defenceman Dennis Cholowski will find out today if he is selected to attend Canada’s world junior selection camp which will be held in St. Catharine’s, Ontario.
A news conference will be held in Calgary to reveal the players that have been picked.
The World Junior Hockey Championship is scheduled for Buffalo from December 26th to January 5th.
PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:
Forwards Kyle Johnson and Ethan de Jong of the Prince George Spruce Kings have been selected to Team Canada West for the World Junior A Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia.
The tournament begins Sunday with the Gold Medal game on Saturday, December 16th.
Johnson, one of four returning players, and de Jong are among 15 BCHL players on the team.
The 16-10-2-3 Spruce Kings are home against Alberni Valley on Friday and Wenatchee on Saturday.

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:
For the second time in her UNBC career, Vasiliki Louka of the Timberwolves has earned a Canada West 3-Star honour.
The fourth-year forward from Athens, Greece was named second star of the week after scoring a total of 54 points and adding 29 rebounds in a split of two games against TRU in Kamloops.
On the season, Louka is 6th in the conference in scoring and first in rebounding.

Both UNBC basketball teams resume their Canada West schedule January 5th and 6th at the Northern Sport Centre when they host UBC-Okanagan.
The Timberwolves are 4-8 and tied for 11th place in both the men’s and women’s Canada West standings.
The top 12 advance to the playoffs.
OLYMPICS:
The IOC has announced that Russia will not be allowed to compete in the 2018 Winter Olympics.
However, Russian athletes will be allowed to participate under a neutral flag if they pass strict anti-doping protocols.
The Olympic Anthem will be played in any ceremony involving a Russian athlete.
