PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The 11-14-2-2 Prince George Cougars play just one game on the weekend.

The Cougars host the 18-10-3 Victoria Royals Sunday at 2PM in their Teddy Bear Toss game.

The two teams will also play Tuesday at the CN Centre.

The Cougars are 2-1 on a five-game home-stand.

Prince George is tied with Kamloops for last place in the BC Division, four points behind Vancouver.

The Cougars trail Seattle by three points for the last wild-card spot.

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The 16-10-2-3 Prince George Spruce Kings host the 8-16-2-4 Alberni Valley Bulldogs tonight and the 20-8-2-1 Wenatchee Wild Saturday.

Prince George is second in the Mainland Division, three points behind Langley and one point ahead of Surrey.

The Spruce Kings have won four in a row and are 5-1 on an eight game home-stand and 12-2-1-1 overall at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA).

CARIBOO COUGARS:

Cariboo Cougars forward Craig MacDonald has committed to play for the Prince George Spruce Kings in the 2018-19 season.

MacDonald has 25 points in 20 games.

The 15-4-1 Major Midget Cougars entertain the 7-13 Thompson Blazers Saturday at 4PM and Sunday at 10AM at Kin 1.

 

NHL:

Flyers third win in four nights in Western Canada after losing 10 in a row.

Philadelphia defenceman Brandon Manning of Prince George is expected to be sidelined for the next three-to-four weeks with a hand injury.

The 27-year-old has three goals, three assists, and 16 penalty minutes in 22 games this season.

Vancouver will be without Bo Horvat for up to six weeks with a fractured ankle.

The 14-11-4 Canucks visit Calgary Saturday.

Commissioner Gary Bettman has announced the NHL has agreed to open the expansion process to a team in Seattle.

The process will reportedly cost $650 million, and if an expansion team is ultimately located in Seattle it will not be until the 2020-21 season.

Seattle is the only city open to the application process.

 

NFL:

Atlanta Falcons   20        New Orleans Saints       17

The 9-4 Saints still lead the NFC South but 8-4 Carolina and 8-5 Atlanta remain in contention.

Former Kansas City Chiefs General Manager John Dorsey has signed a four-year contract to become the GM of the Cleveland Browns.

Dorsey replaces Sashi Brown who was fired after the Browns went 1-27 under his leadership over two seasons.

Head Coach Hue Jackson will keep his job for another year, his third with the Browns.

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

Both UNBC Timberwolves basketball teams resume their Canada West schedule January 5th and 6th at the Northern Sport Centre when they host UBC-Okanagan.

The Timberwolves are 4-8 and tied for 11th place in both the men’s and women’s Canada West standings.

 

NBA:

The 15-7 Toronto Raptors visit the 8-16 Memphis Grizzlies tonight to begin a four-game road trip.
