UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer goalie, Ty Venhola, has been named Canada West 1st Star of the Week. Venhola recorded 19 saves, one shutout and a .864 save percentage in the two wins over the Trinity Western University Spartans. A third-year keeper for the Timberwolves, Venhola had 15 saves to post his second shutout of his career in a 1-0 victory on Sunday. Venhola sits atop of the Canada West chart for total number of saves and is fourth in save percentage.

–The 3-4 Prince George Cougars have three home games in four nights starting this evening (Wednesday) at 7 against the 1-3-0-1 Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Cougars also welcome the Vancouver Giants to CN Centre Friday and Saturday.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings return to action at the Coliseum when they host the Langley Rivermen Thursday and Friday.

–The 4-1-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars travel to Nanaimo to play the North Island Silvertips Saturday and Sunday.

–The World Girls’ Hockey Weekend Long Game, which features five continuous female games running from coast to coast,
will take place on Saturday. Prince George will host Midget Division action starting at 6pm at Kin 2. This is the second year that the Long Game will take place. Last year, more than 1500 players on 88 teams played in 44 games across the country. In 2013, more than 1000 players participated in World Girls’ Hockey Weekend events in BC.
