–Ty Edmonds stopped 31 shots in leading the Prince George Cougars to a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants in front of 2401 fans. The Cougars are 5-4 and the Giants 4-3 with a rematch between the two teams tonight at 7 at CN Centre.

–The P.G. Cougars have signed 1997-born forward Jared Bethune to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. Last season with Warroad High School Bethune (6’0”, 185 pounds) scored 31 goals, 53 assists and was a +77 in just 25 games. Prior to joining the Cougars, Bethune had committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth starting in 2016-17. Recently, Bethune was listed on NHL Central Scouting’s Preliminary List of Players to watch. He received a ‘B’ grade, which indicates a 2nd or 3rd round draft candidate.

–Chad Staley scored his second goal of the game at 2:35 of overtime to give the Prince George Spruce Kings a 4-3 triumph over the Langley Rivermen before a crowd of 792 at the Coliseum. The Spruce Kings gained a split of the doubleheader as Langley won the Thursday game 2-0.

–The UNBC women’s soccer team posted its first win of the season 2-1 over the TRU Wolfpack. In Canada West men’s soccer action, TRU beat UNBC 1-0. The teams have a rematch today in Kamloops.
