Grant information session being held Wednesday

The City of Prince George is giving residents and organizations a chance to learn more about its grant programs.

There are three granting streams: Community Enhancement Grants, Celebrate Prince George Community Grants, and MyPG Community Grants.

“These grants really allow community organizations to be able to put forward programs and make the city a better place to live by these community groups putting on these events and programs,” explains spokesperson Jen Tkachuk.

“It allows them to be able to get funding and really be able to enhance the community in ways that they had envisioned that wouldn’t be possible without funding.”

The Celebrate Prince George Community Grants are getting a bit of a makeover this year with the goal of increasing flexibility of the application process and attract a wider variety of celebratory events and initiatives.

Proposals are now being accepted for initiatives that run year round instead of just February and July.

Multi-year funding, for one to three years, one annual intake for all 2019 events, and two grant categories including emerging tourism events eligible for up to $5,000 per year, and signature tourism events eligible for up to $10,000 per year.

The MyPG Community Grants have been around for over 25 years, the Community Enhancement Grants began in 2012, and the Celebrate Prince George Community Grants began in 2015.

The session is Wednesday from 10am – 11am in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
