A new program to help youth feel safer downtown has seen a lot of interest. The Youth Friendly Network, organized through the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society, encourages youth to check out the city’s core. Organizer Caitlyn Lloyd says they have been able to get businesses on board with the program.
“So we’ve made a sticker to help streamline the process,” says Lloyd, “so when you look in a window and see a YFN sticker it means that business has signed an agreement to provide basic services, to people who identify as needing to use the YFN program.”
Lloyd says they have over 20 businesses signed up for the program. She says these stores and shops provide a safe environment for youth that need one.
