Prince George IMSS receives government funding

The Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society of Prince George (IMSS) is one of 32 organizations around the province benefitting from the BC Organizing Against Racism and Hate program.

IMSS receives annual funding from the program, this time totalling $7,000.

The funding is just a small part of the battle, according to Executive Director Ravi Saxena.

“It’s time for everyone to meet together and work on this because it’s dividing,” he says.

“It’s not making us united this issue is dividing for everything.”

A major focus for the group is bringing this attention to youth.

“They should know exactly what’s going on around the world and how we can protect ourselves,” explains Saxena.

“The better they know earliest, the better for the community and society.”

IMSS will use the funds to establish a series of dialogues for community partners, service providers, public institutions, and youth focusing on the power dynamics of racism and discrimination.
