Environment Canada issues snowfall warning for Prince George

Prince George residents are being warned of a possible sudden snowfall this evening and tomorrow morning.

Environment Canada has posted a snowfall warning for the area in and around the Northern capital, calling for 15 to 20 centimetres.

The snow will begin to fall in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District and is expected to progress across the North Central BC interior by Sunday afternoon.

The agency says greater amounts are also possible given the unpredictability of the Pacific frontal system.

City snow crews have said they’re going to be ready by the time the snow flies.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Dave Wray previews what’s next after this.

“We’re looking to get a bit of a break for the next day and a half or two, looking like another system, though, coming through for Tuesday into Wednesday,” he explains.

“The conditions will warm up, we’re looking at lows in or around the minus three or four mark, and highs around zero.”

Wray says in terms of snow, a few more centimeters could be seen Tuesday or Wednesday.
