BC Hydro is activating its Winter Payment Plan once again.
The plan provides people with the option to spread winter bill payments over a six-month period.
“We’re bringing it back because we know the cold temperatures in our province drive up electricity usage and that results in higher BC Hydro bills and those can be difficult for families to manage alongside other household expenses,” says Bob Gammer, Northern Media Relations.
“There was some good uptake for the program last year with a few thousand customers signing up province-wide.”
The timing of this announcement is perfect thanks to some chilly temperatures across the north.
“Given that our meteorologists are looking ahead in the next few months and they’re predicting colder than normal temperatures, we want to be able to provide customers with some help to manage their BC Hydro payments.”
The billing period began December 1st and will run until March 31st.
