Northern United Football Club launches in Prince George

A new youth soccer organization is looking to make waves in Prince George.

Northern United Football Club is a not-for-profit member of BC Soccer with the goal of delivering another option for kids wanting to get into soccer.

There will be differences to other current youth soccer organizations, as NUFC President Brenda Gendron explains.

“One of the things that will set us apart at the current stage is that we’re going to offer individual age group soccer versus the [Prince George Youth Soccer Association’s] dual-aged soccer group,” says Gendron.

“Our goal is to do six-year-olds, seven-year-olds, eight-year-olds, kind of individual, independent years.”

Despite being a brand new organization, Gendron says they boast a wealth of local soccer experience.

“Some of the individuals involved, I would say, have had probably over 100 years of soccer coaching experience in the Prince George area.”

NUFC’s goal for its first year of operation is between 100 and 150 kids.

Gendron says while the number may seem low, it’s all about growing at the right pace and attracting the right people.
