Prince George Track Club middle distance runner Alexander Nemethy of Vanderhoof placed first for the third straight year at the North Central Zone High School X-Country running Championships. The girls race was won by Olivia Baptiste of Correlieu. Host Nechako Valley took top honors in both the senior girls and senior boys team standings at the 35th annual event. Second place went to the College Heights girls and Correlieu (Quesnel) boys. The NVSS girls have won six consecutive zone titles. Next up will be the Provincials November 1st in Victoria.

–Two members of the Hart Judo Club, Grace Northrop (-52KG) and Lavanna Laass(-63KG) plus Kristen Yawney (-70KG) of the PG Judo Club have been selected to the provincial team that will compete at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George. All three qualified at the BC Judo Championships in Abbotsford.

–Prince George Inner City fighter Kenny Lally tuned up for the Nationals by scoring a three round unanimous decision victory over Josh Slager of Kamloops in North Vancouver. Lally is attending a training camp this week in Victoria before heading to Toronto and the Canadian Boxing Championships that begin on October 28th. Bob Pegues of PG Inner City is the head coach for the Western Canadian Team that competes at Nationals.

–Three Prince George senior boys volleyball teams competed in the Best of the West Tournament in Kelowna. DP Todd tied for 11th out of 40 with a 4-2 record. College Heights was 19th with a 5-2 record and Duchess park tied for 25th with a record of 2-4.

–The Prince George Cougars are home against Brandon Wednesday before playing three games in Alberta this weekend. The Cats visit Red Deer Friday, Edmonton Saturday and Calgary Sunday.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings have three home games in four days starting Thursday against Penticton. The Spruce Kings also host Trail Saturday and Powell River Sunday.
