Ryan Schoettler scored at 4:04 of overtime to give the (23-33-4-4) Cougars their first three game win streak since November 18th.

Joel Lakusta (PG) and Noah Gregor (Victoria) exchanged third period power-play goals before 4,035 fans.

The Cougars scored the first goal for the first time in 16 games.

Taylor Gauthier made 32 saves for the Cats while Griffen Outhouse stopped 36 shots for the Royals, who suffered their fourth straight loss.

Same teams meet again tonight, 7PM at the CN Centre.

Prince George has just eight games left.

Chiefs lead the best-of-seven Mainland Division semi-final 1-0 with Game Two tonight in Prince George.

The Cariboo Cougars wrap up their regular season on March 10th (3PM) and 11th (10AM) against the fourth-place Okanagan Rockets in Kelowna.

The (29-6-3-0Major Midget Cougars have the bye this weekend.

Cariboo has a two-point lead over the second place Valley West Hawks, but Valley West has two games in hand.

The (28-5-2-1) Hawks host last place South Island tonight (6:30PM) and Sunday (12:45PM) in Surrey before concluding at 10th place North Island March 10th and 11th in Nanaimo.

(Duchess will play Okanagan-Mission for 5th and 6th today at 11:30AM. Earlier, the Condors beat Westsyde 59-32 and then lost in the quarter-finals to G.W. Graham, 68-64)

(Duchess is 0-3 in the 24-team tournament with its last game today at 8:30AM against Windsor. The Condors earlier lost 48-34 to Kelowna and 42-35 to St. John Brebeuf)

UPDATE: DUCHESS FINISHED 1-3 AFTER 45-43 WIN OVER WINDSOR

Nechako Valley   44  PGSS Polars  40

(NVSS finished 2-2 while PGSS ended up 1-3. Nechako Valley lost 57-25 to Kelowna and 39-21 to Cowichan in its first two games before outscoring Charles Hayes 52-39.)

The Polars lost 58-44 to Pacific Christian and 55-39 to Claremont before scoring its only win, 67-56 over Argyle.

 

CANADA WEST BASKETBALL:

The Regina Cougars beat the Saskatchewan Huskies 75-55 in the Canada West basketball women’s gold medal game.

The Trinity Western Spartans host the Calgary Dinos in the bronze medal game tonight.

Regina, Saskatchewan, and the TWU-Calgary winner will all advance to the Nationals.

Cedars Christian grad Kayla Gordon of Trinity Western is in her senior year.

Gordon is a third-team all-star and the Spartans all-time leading scorer.

On the men’s side, the top-ranked Alberta Golden Bears host the Calgary Dinos tonight in the championship game.

The Alberta men whipped the UNBC Timberwolves 98-64 and 80-41 in the quarter-finals in Edmonton.

 

NBA:

The (44-17) Raptors lead the Eastern Conference by one game over the (44-19) Boston Celtics.

 

CURLING:

BC, represented by Sean Geall of Kelowna, will play its first game in Pool ‘A’ tonight against Team Canada (Brad Gushue).
