Local fire rescue curling team off to nationals, recognized by city council

The BC Firefighters Curling Championship came to City Hall on Monday as the Prince George Fire and Rescue Service curling team brought back the hardware.

Firefighters Trent Blair, Jay Winkel, Cliff Warner and Blake King were all recognized by members of council and also joined Glen Mikkelsen who is the Chair of the 2020 Brier Bid.

The team is now headed to the 59th Canadian Fire Fighters Curling Championships in Ontario.

Residents can still buy a $20.20 deposit on a single Tim Hortons Brier tournament pass to show the city’s commitment to hosting the event in 2020.

Prince George’s bid must be submitted to Curling Canada by June 30th.
