–The Brandon Wheat Kings scored four times with the man advantage in a 7-4 victory over the Prince George Cougars. The Wheat Kings went 4/8 on the power play while the Cats were 2/7 on the PP. The Cougars penalty kill is operating at a league worst 67.9 per cent. Jared Bethune notched a goal and an assist for P.G. in his home debut. The Loss snapped the Cats 4 game home win streak in front of 2,260 fans at CN Centre. P.G. has now allowed 57 goals in 13 games, second most in the WHL. The 7-6 Cougars play three games in Alberta this weekend as they visit 3-7-1 Red Deer Friday, 7-3-0-1 Edmonton Saturday and 6-4-0-1 Calgary Sunday. The Cats next home game will be November 1st against Kamloops.

–The 8-4-0-1 Prince George Spruce Kings play three home games in four days starting tonight (Thursday) against the 10-1 Penticton Vees. The Spruce Kings also entertain Trail Saturday at 7 and Powell River Sunday at 3. Prince George is in 2nd place in the BCHL Mainland Division, 2 points behind 9-1-0-1 Chilliwack.

–In the BCMML: The 8-1-1 Cariboo Cougars welcome the 4-6 South Island Royals to Kin 1 Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 9:30am.

–The UNBC Timberwolves gear up for their Canada West basketball season by playing exhibition games in Winnipeg this week. The UNBC men meet U of Winnipeg Friday 4pm (PDT) and U of Manitoba Saturday at 6pm. The Lady Timberwolves play U of W Friday 2pm, U of Jamestown, North Dakota Saturday at 11am & U of Manitoba Sunday at 8am. The Timberwolves open their regular season with home games vs. TRU Nov 7th & 8th.

–College Heights Secondary will host the Spooktacular Invitational boys volleyball tournament with 10 local (PG) schools entered. Play begins Friday at 2 with the final Saturday at 5:30.
