The Prince George Spruce Kings picked up a point in a 3-2 loss in double overtime to the BCHL leading Penticton Vees before 904 fans at the PG Coliseum. Jesse Jenks had 39 saves as the 11-1 Vees outshot the Spruce Kings 42-20. Prince George erased a 2-0 deficit early in the third period to force extra time. Matthew Serratore scored the winner at 3:38 of the second overtime period. The 8-4-0-2 Spruce Kings host 7-3 Trail Saturday at 7 and 4-5-0-3 Powell River Sunday at 3. P.G. is a point behind Mainland Division leading Chilliwack but the 9-1-0-1 Chiefs have three games in hand.

–The Prince George Cougars are on an Alberta swing and visit 3-7-1 Red Deer tonight (Friday), 7-3-0-1 Edmonton Saturday and 6-4-0-1 Calgary Sunday. The 7-6 Cougars have allowed 57 goals, 2nd most in the WHL.

–The 8-1-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars have a home double this weekend at Kin 1. Cariboo entertains the 4-6 South Island Royals Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 9:30am.

–The UNBC basketball teams are in Winnipeg for exhibition games. The Timberwolves start their Canada West regular season at home against TRU on November 7th and 8th.

–10 Prince George teams compete in the Spooktacular Invitational boys volleyball tournament at College Heights Secondary. The final is set for 5:30 pm Saturday.
