In a swap of 20-year-old forwards the Prince George Spruce Kings acquired Jarryd Leung from the Powell River Kings in return for Brent Lashuk. The 6-foot, 175 pound Leung and Lashuk both have 5 goals and 5 assists in 14 games. Leung
notched 35 points last season, including 19 goals.

–20 year old forward Jeremiah Luedtke of the Prince George Spruce Kings has earned an NCAA Division 1 commitment to the University of Alaska Anchorage for the 2015-16 season. The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves compete in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). The 5’9” 150 pound Luedtke from Lynnwood, Washington has 6 goals and 13 assists in 16 games this season (tied for 10th in BCHL scoring).

–The PG Spruce Kings visit the defending BCHL champion Coquitlam Express tonight. Coquitlam is struggling with a 3-10-0-2 record. The 9-5-0-2 Spruce Kings also visit the 5-4-1-3 Langley Rivermen Thursday.

–Former Spruce Kings and Cariboo Cougars defenceman Brandon Manning of PG has been recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The 24-year-old Manning has appeared in six games for the Phantoms, posting a goal and four assists for five points to go along with a +2 rating. He will join the Flyers for a two-game road trip to Florida, beginning with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday and facing off against the Panthers on Saturday.

–Brett Connolly of Prince George was scratched from the Lightning line-up for the second straight game with a lower body injury. Tampa Bay whipped the Arizona Coyotes 7-3. PG Cougars part owner Eric Brewer notched one assist and was plus 3 in 16:45 of ice time for Tampa.

–The 8-8 Prince George Cougars start an 8-game homestand against the Kamloops Blazers Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 2.

–Prince George Inner City fighter Kenny Lally has his first bout tonight against Mark Gautier of Quebec in the quarter-finals of the 56 Kilos weight class at the Boxing Canada Elite Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. Lally, a five-time National champion, is part of the 12-member Western Canadian team that is coached by Bob Pegues of Inner City.

–The Prince George Masters Ball Hockey League began a new season with games at the PG Roll-a-Dome. Cap-abilities won a pair over Alison’s/Predators 7-2 and 6-2. The Pizza Hut Slicers also swept a double-header as they beat Summit Insurance 8-2 and 6-4.

–The PG men’s Ball Hockey League is also underway. In the opening week: Shaw Cable won twice, 4-3 over Excel Painting
and 4-1 over CH Dental Kings 4-2, Excel doubled the Dental Kings 4-2 and the Bruisers outscored the Blue Collar Crew
6-3 and 4-0 to sweep the double-header.
