Wild lead the BCHL Fred Page Cup Final 2-0.

Wenatchee improved to 10-0 at home in the playoffs, while Prince George is 3-7 on the road.

The Wild scored three straight goals after Blake Hayward of the Spruce Kings opened the scoring, with his first of two goals, at 4:58 of the first period.

AJ Vanderbeck tallied twice and added two assists, while BCHL playoff scoring leader Jasper Weatherby put one into an empty net and added one assist.

Weatherby has 35 points (15G, 20A) in just 17 games.

Spruce Kings goalie Evan DeBrouwer made 30 saves as Wenatchee outshot PG 34-15.

The series shifts to Prince George Monday and Tuesday.

There are 56 seats available for Game Three and 189 remaining for Game Four.

In addition, 300 standing room only tickets will be available once all the seats are gone.

The Spruce Kings office re-opens Monday from 9AM to 5PM.

Spruce Kings goalie Evan DeBrouwer made 52 saves as the Wild outshot the Spruce Kings 56-25.

Jasper Weatherby notched a goal and two assists and Austin Park earned the shutout.

Best-of-seven Eastern Conference semi-final tied 3-3 with the 7th and deciding game Monday in Moose Jaw.

Brody Wilms made 58 saves as the Broncos outshot the Warriors 60-38.

The Warriors-Broncos winner will play the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final.

The best-of-seven WHL Western Conference Final opens Friday in Everett with the Silvertips against the Tri-City Americans.

Everett is 8-2 in the playoffs while Tri-City is 8-0.


Lethbridge sniper Brad Morrison of Prince George leads the WHL in playoff scoring with 29 points (12G, 17A) in just 10 post-season games.

Morgan Geekie (15 goals) and Michael Rasmussen (10 goals) of Tri-City each have 24 points in eight playoff games, all wins.

Alyx Treasure of Prince George just missed the podium with a fourth place finish in the women’s high jump at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The 25-year-old Treasure had a leap of 1.91 metres.

Her personal best is 1.94, which the D.P. Todd grad set at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.
