Time is running out for you to win a home fit for a King.
The public has until 6 PM on Monday, April 30th to buy their tickets for a chance to win a fully furnished home in the Aberdeen Glen Estates area at 2643 Links Drive.
As usual, business is picking up near the end.
“It’s been an exciting time as everything is wrapping up as we get to the conclusion and we you talk about tickets we’re under 3,000 available for the house and about just around 1,300 available for the Mega 505/50 jackpot,” says Kyle Anderson, Senior Marketing Manager.
“It’s been about six or seven straight days now where we have sold 100 tickets, compared to last year we had a thousand tickets sold in the last three days and we’re hoping to hit those numbers again and 1,800 sold would be amazing in the last week.”
The fundraiser is crucial to the team’s operating budget thanks to the rising costs of travel and equipment, which seem to go up each and every year.
“You know, every time they go to play a divisional opponent they have to leave on a Thursday and there are three nights in a hotel and you’re playing three games in three nights with meals and all of that travel and when you compare that to an Interior team where half the time they’ll play an out of division game and will be back in their own beds that night.”
The Spruce Kings are coming off their best season in the BCHL making it all the way to the Fred Page Cup Final losing to the Wenatchee Wild in five games.
While a run like that can really energize the team and the fanbase, it does make for some additional costs.
“This show home lottery and the 50/50 are crucial to the Spruce Kings and when you look at a playoff run like Prince George just had, everyone thinks its positive for the books but in reality, there is a lot of extra expenses in the playoffs when you look at travel costs.”
For just $25, supporters also have the chance to win up to $50,000 if sold out.
The Show Home Lottery is the largest annual fundraiser for the Spruce Kings.
